Harsh Realities Finds Transgender Youth Face Extreme Harassment in School

As I read this article on the GLSEN website about the amount of harassment that students are receiving in school it made me very sad. It seem like even though we are getting smarter and we are progressing as a kind in this country the fact that no one can seem to get along with one another baffles me.  I feel like this sucks so much for some of these kids because school is hard enough as it is but to then have to be harassed everyday because of ones sexual orientation is not right at all.
There have been a large amount ofteenagers being either sexual assaulted or verbal assaulted because of theresexual orientation. This article and the one on my hyperlink are very much alike they both talk about the statics. When people say that history repeats its self I agree. At one point this country hated African Americans and now they hate all LGBT. So it never seem like we can over come one obstacle when another is being thrown right at us again. Like Rodney King had once said “can’t we just all get along?” Something that I just don’t see ever happening.
The amount of LGBT students that have committed suicide or starting doing drugs because of all the harassment is unbelievable. Kids who one day would have been great people are now ending there lives because no one can just accept them for who they are, or won’t really get to know them because they have something against them.  Something that most people need to get over is that no matter what color skin you are or your sexual orientation you no different from everyone else in the world.

  2. "At one point this country hated African Americans and now they hate all LGBT." I really like the connection you made here. It's so frustrating. Especially in respect to gay marriage. Once discriminated-against groups that organize and bring their demands for equal rights before the public, are eventually granted their rights. I can only imagine that the same will occur for LGBT.
